Ten years since...
One whole decade has now passed since the first monthly (September 1993) of the newly re-launched comic became available in the shops. I remember buying my copy (towards the end of August) from a small village cornershop, on the final day of my summer holiday. How time passes quickly!
Incidentally, what did readers think of "The Gaffer" (the cartoon-style character who introduced the comic and edited the letters page)? I found him and his often unusual turn of phrase particularly amusing.

Re: Ten years since...
I actually liked the new monthly. I didn't like all of the artwork mind you. The storyline was great. I liked Rocky and Delroy together. I also liked the reissue of a previous generation being in it. I think there was the early 90's and 1982 storyline. I liked reading the Gaffer as though he was the coach and gradually giving out information about where players had moved on to. I wasn't very keen on the name changes of the entire competition though. ROTR played against Carford City, Portdean, Melbro etc not Brixton or Donfield United.

Re: Ten years since...
Am I the only person on line at the moment? I guess you are all in Europe and it's the other end of the day for you.
Moving on 10 years or more who do you think would still be playing and who would have become the superstars? Would Des Chapman be like Sol Campbell? Maybe Russell Wallace is playing in the Premier league like Stephen Clemence. Could Barry Dean have become a star somewhere else. What do you think?

Re: Ten years since...
Unfortunately in a few weeks time (May 2005) it will be 10 years since the last ROTR's magazine was published. Gee I miss my weekly Roy Race fix - even at my age. It was great to get the Annual in 2000 and MOTD to continue the story for a few years but surely somebody somewhere can do some re-runs of the old stories. Surely they would sell.

Re: Ten years since...
Striker tried to do that, but Egmont refused to sell the rights for a re-run! Do you believe that? BTW, Striker (which is GREAT!) publishes Billy's Boots from the very beginning
