What about the European Champions?

Do you beleive that Greece could have a place in the World Cup finals, (instead of Ucraine or Swizerland of course...) or not?

I haven't the faintest what their team looks like by now, to be honest. In any case, it was great that a team like Greece - with more unknown players for outsiders than the 'top' teams - was able to win the european cup.
But they had their chance to qualify and they seemed not strong enough. There are still some other teams which are missing from the stage (e.g. my home country Belgium qualified for the last 6 consecutive world cup finals, - that's since 1982 - but now they simple didn't deserve it), but hey, their's only room for 32, which in my opinion is already 8 too much to start with. I feel it has become a bit like the champion's league: the real game starts in the 2nd round only.

I agree rob the second round is really where it begins but the Group stages do produce shocks - Ecuador perhaps wouldn't have been in the World Cup if there were 8 teams less and the WC does seem to bring the best out of the smaller teams who have nothing to loose. Also are France on their way home? We shall see....
