Team Colours

New to this board lads, enjoyed reading the posts.
I thought I was on my own regarding the interest in fictional football teams from boys comics of yesteryear.
I have an interest in any comic that has a football story in it.
I have often promised myself that I would gather team colours for as many teams as possible.
I have made a start, can I ask for your help in this matter please.
Thank you in advance emoticon

Re: Team Colours

Great idea Xkopite. My favourite team strip from when I was a kid (apart from melchester Rovers strip) was Castleburn City's strip. Blue shirt with yellow V's across the front with white sleeves. Blue shorts with white stripe on the hips. It seemed so different from the traditional 70's and 80's strips that were all plain white or all red etc.

Re: Team Colours

Hi Grandad,
My favourite teams in the Victor Comic was, Midford City, Redburn Rvs & Ironbury.
In the mid 60s you only had colour on the front page.
The football stories inside would be in bw with a splash of red.
Redburn Rvs had a dark top with a broad zig zag band, I think.
I will have to try and get some annuals etc in colour to try and get colours for teams.
Any help please from any comic football stories.

Wow. Excellent. My brother used to get the Victor while I got the Tiger each week. My favourite read was Midford City. Rusty Cook, Ralph Ellis, Twisty Topham, Lew Willis. Can't remember any more. Was Jack Shaw the ex England player who became manager? No idea what their colours where though.
Looking forward to more team strips.

Tell you what Grandad

You have a better memory than me when it comes to players names from Midford City team.
I think I only seen this story in b & w print so to guess a colour of kit is a leap in the dark.
For some reason I chose all sky blue, would like to be put right on this matter.
Thanks for colours of other teams mentioned.

Hey guys!
Midford city and Redburn Rovers should have been the most historic clubs in Victor (+Chidsea /jumping jimi)
Georgeous Gus, Nick Smith played for Rovers. Any info about these teams??
Also Bernard Briggs for Blackton Rovers was a nice story

What little info know is as follows,
Redburn Rvs fronted by Georgous Gus, kit I remember as white shirt dark shorts then dark top with a zig zag band on chest white shorts.
Midford City colours not known, players Jack Shaw,Osbert Guffles, Snitcher Jones & Jake Pimm.
Pressley Rangers white shirts dark shorts, Wee Bandy played for them.
Chidsea players Arnold Tabbs,Jumping Jimi & Wee Bandy (I believe)
Kegford Utd no colours known, players, Jim Daley & Sam Barnham.
Manton City shirt dark broad stripe either side of a white stripe, white sleeves white shorts, player Mike Hollins.
Ashfield Rvs, white shirt dark band across chest, white shorts.
Any help from you lads with colour publications would be a great help pleaseeeeeeeeee.
These teams from the Victor comic.

Re: Team Colours

What about Darbury Rangers of Limp along Leslie?
A club existed since 40s up to 1983 with Buddy or Spike i think.
Darbury had ALL BLACK colours in Champ and had conquered European Cup 1983 with Iron Barr! (i hardly know things about Leslie's trophies)
If Melchester Rovers is the most historic club with 47 years existence, Darbury should be the second. What about the book 'Football comic heroes' of Adam Rich, maybe has some details about those teams...(if anyone knows)
