I think I tried it, but couldn't get it to work a year or so ago. I was wondering if you knew anything about this, as I am building a database with the club colours and players?nondisclosed_email@example.com (R5MYTHE)Tue, 24 Mar 2015 19:40:13 +0000 Re: Team Colourshttps://btheroyracetalkin.runboard.com/p328040,from=rss#post328040https://btheroyracetalkin.runboard.com/p328040,from=rss#post328040Everpool City played in an all blue strip. I have pictures of Blackport Rovers playing in Black and white stripes (Newcastle Utd) and also Maroon and Blue stripes (Barcelona). Kingsbay played in white shirts, black shorts (like Fulham). Durrells Palace played in white shirts with Red shorts. Walford Rovers wore Blue shirts with white shorts and sometimes all blue like Chelsea.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Grandad Gosden)Sun, 25 Apr 2010 00:03:16 +0000 Re: Team Colourshttps://btheroyracetalkin.runboard.com/p328007,from=rss#post328007https://btheroyracetalkin.runboard.com/p328007,from=rss#post328007Brentville Albion were a team from the story 'You are the Star' where you/I played No.9 for Brentville Albion. There were spaces in the print so you could wtire your name. I only ever saw the team in black & white print and the kit was even black & white stripes (like Newcastle Utd), however there was a story run in the a 'ROTR summer special' which I have still got and it had the Albion fans chanting 'come on you reds', so I guess Brentville Albion are even red & white stripes (like Sheffield Utd) As far as the 1940's era with Victor, I will have to call upon my father whose in his 70's. He used to (and still does) tell me stories about the greats like centre half Rory Grant, the toughest player in the world Arnold Tabbs, inside right Ron Pickford, Cannonball Kidd the hardest shot in football, Fleetfoot (left winger) and in my Dad's opinion the best footballer to grace the comic world......Nick Smith. I'll speak to my Dad and get him on my computer (I'll have to type it for him) and can give you all the low down on the 1940's. He has the team all written down in his old subbuteo note books (father like son) We still (time permitting) get the subbuteo board up and play, even at his age. We play his all time greats (1940's) Vs. my ROTR/United all time greats, and he always wins, usually a Nick Smith special! nondisclosed_email@example.com (Brentville Albion)Wed, 07 Apr 2010 13:29:34 +0000 Re: Team Colourshttps://btheroyracetalkin.runboard.com/p328006,from=rss#post328006https://btheroyracetalkin.runboard.com/p328006,from=rss#post328006xkopite what about Darbury Rangers? (Iron Barr, Leslie Thompson and also famous Nick Smith!)      Do u have any info? I used to read about it via a greek magazine. Leslie Thompson became internationalist and probably led Darbury to European Cup in 50s. Also he did the same in 80s!!!! Like Roy Race... nondisclosed_email@example.com (jimmygrant93)Wed, 07 Apr 2010 13:21:48 +0000 Re: Team Colourshttps://btheroyracetalkin.runboard.com/p328005,from=rss#post328005https://btheroyracetalkin.runboard.com/p328005,from=rss#post328005I have sent for Football comic heroes a few days ago, thinking on the same lines mate. Would be great for some more input from you lads. For some reason I cannot place the Brentville team and colours, any help !nondisclosed_email@example.com (xkopite)Wed, 07 Apr 2010 10:13:22 +0000 Re: Team Colourshttps://btheroyracetalkin.runboard.com/p328004,from=rss#post328004https://btheroyracetalkin.runboard.com/p328004,from=rss#post328004What about Darbury Rangers of Limp along Leslie? A club existed since 40s up to 1983 with Buddy or Spike i think. Darbury had ALL BLACK colours in Champ and had conquered European Cup 1983 with Iron Barr! (i hardly know things about Leslie's trophies) If Melchester Rovers is the most historic club with 47 years existence, Darbury should be the second. What about the book 'Football comic heroes' of Adam Rich, maybe has some details about those teams...(if anyone knows)nondisclosed_email@example.com (jimmygrant93)Tue, 06 Apr 2010 21:25:33 +0000 Re: Team Colourshttps://btheroyracetalkin.runboard.com/p328003,from=rss#post328003https://btheroyracetalkin.runboard.com/p328003,from=rss#post328003What little info know is as follows, Redburn Rvs fronted by Georgous Gus, kit I remember as white shirt dark shorts then dark top with a zig zag band on chest white shorts. Chidsea players Arnold Tabbs,Jumping Jimi & Wee Bandy (I believe) Kegford Utd no colours known, players, Jim Daley & Sam Barnham. I think I only seen this story in b & w print so to guess a colour of kit is a leap in the dark. For some reason I chose all sky blue, would like to be put right on this matter. Thanks for colours of other teams mentioned.nondisclosed_email@example.com (xkopite)Mon, 05 Apr 2010 14:16:58 +0000 Re: Team Colourshttps://btheroyracetalkin.runboard.com/p327997,from=rss#post327997https://btheroyracetalkin.runboard.com/p327997,from=rss#post327997I think Jimmy Grant's and Brentville's "United" played in a yellow with red pin striped shirt with yellow shorts and sox didn't they?nondisclosed_email@example.com (Grandad Gosden)Mon, 05 Apr 2010 11:41:14 +0000 Re: Team Colourshttps://btheroyracetalkin.runboard.com/p327994,from=rss#post327994https://btheroyracetalkin.runboard.com/p327994,from=rss#post327994Wow. Excellent. My brother used to get the Victor while I got the Tiger each week. My favourite read was Midford City. Rusty Cook, Ralph Ellis, Twisty Topham, Lew Willis. Can't remember any more. Was Jack Shaw the ex England player who became manager? No idea what their colours where though. Looking forward to more team strips.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Grandad Gosden)Sat, 03 Apr 2010 16:02:41 +0000 Re: Team Colourshttps://btheroyracetalkin.runboard.com/p327993,from=rss#post327993https://btheroyracetalkin.runboard.com/p327993,from=rss#post327993Hi Grandad, My favourite teams in the Victor Comic was, Midford City, Redburn Rvs & Ironbury. In the mid 60s you only had colour on the front page. The football stories inside would be in bw with a splash of red. Redburn Rvs had a dark top with a broad zig zag band, I think. I will have to try and get some annuals etc in colour to try and get colours for teams. Any help please from any comic football stories.nondisclosed_email@example.com (xkopite)Sat, 03 Apr 2010 15:22:17 +0000 Re: Team Colourshttps://btheroyracetalkin.runboard.com/p327989,from=rss#post327989https://btheroyracetalkin.runboard.com/p327989,from=rss#post327989Great idea Xkopite. My favourite team strip from when I was a kid (apart from melchester Rovers strip) was Castleburn City's strip. Blue shirt with yellow V's across the front with white sleeves. Blue shorts with white stripe on the hips. It seemed so different from the traditional 70's and 80's strips that were all plain white or all red etc.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Grandad Gosden)Fri, 02 Apr 2010 23:32:54 +0000 Re: Team Colourshttps://btheroyracetalkin.runboard.com/p327988,from=rss#post327988https://btheroyracetalkin.runboard.com/p327988,from=rss#post327988Forgot to mention that I intend to paint Subbuteo teams in these colours, that,s why I need the team colour,s for this project.nondisclosed_email@example.com (xkopite)Fri, 02 Apr 2010 21:22:57 +0000 Team Colourshttps://btheroyracetalkin.runboard.com/p327986,from=rss#post327986https://btheroyracetalkin.runboard.com/p327986,from=rss#post327986New to this board lads, enjoyed reading the posts. I thought I was on my own regarding the interest in fictional football teams from boys comics of yesteryear. I have an interest in any comic that has a football story in it. I have often promised myself that I would gather team colours for as many teams as possible. I have made a start, can I ask for your help in this matter please. Thank you in advance nondisclosed_email@example.com (xkopite)Fri, 02 Apr 2010 17:27:37 +0000
