Re: Team Colours

xkopite what about Darbury Rangers? (Iron Barr, Leslie Thompson and also famous Nick Smith!)
Do u have any info? I used to read about it via a greek magazine.
Leslie Thompson became internationalist and probably led Darbury to European Cup in 50s. Also he did the same in 80s!!!!
Like Roy Race...

Re: Team Colours

Brentville Albion were a team from the story 'You are the Star' where you/I played No.9 for Brentville Albion. There were spaces in the print so you could wtire your name.

I only ever saw the team in black & white print and the kit was even black & white stripes (like Newcastle Utd), however there was a story run in the a 'ROTR summer special' which I have still got and it had the Albion fans chanting 'come on you reds', so I guess Brentville Albion are even red & white stripes (like Sheffield Utd)

As far as the 1940's era with Victor, I will have to call upon my father whose in his 70's. He used to (and still does) tell me stories about the greats like centre half Rory Grant, the toughest player in the world Arnold Tabbs, inside right Ron Pickford, Cannonball Kidd the hardest shot in football, Fleetfoot (left winger) and in my Dad's opinion the best footballer to grace the comic world......Nick Smith.

I'll speak to my Dad and get him on my computer (I'll have to type it for him) and can give you all the low down on the 1940's. He has the team all written down in his old subbuteo note books (father like son) We still (time permitting) get the subbuteo board up and play, even at his age. We play his all time greats (1940's) Vs. my ROTR/United all time greats, and he always wins, usually a Nick Smith special!

Re: Team Colours

Everpool City played in an all blue strip.

I have pictures of Blackport Rovers playing in Black and white stripes (Newcastle Utd) and also Maroon and Blue stripes (Barcelona).

Kingsbay played in white shirts, black shorts (like Fulham).

Durrells Palace played in white shirts with Red shorts.

Walford Rovers wore Blue shirts with white shorts and sometimes all blue like Chelsea.

Re: Team Colours

I found another Melchester ROvers site which had a link for a SWOS (Sensible Soccer) patch with all the Roy of The Rovers teams in there. I think I tried it, but couldn't get it to work a year or so ago. I was wondering if you knew anything about this, as I am building a database with the club colours and players?
